Scroll Advertising
Scroll advertising is a computer-generated system that is piped onto channel 33 in continuous loops. Basic graphic scroll messages can represent your business, event, or service with the highest professionalism at an extremely low cost. Designed to capture the attention of a typical viewer who channel surfs, scroll messages are short and to the point, much like a billboard.

The Creative Services team at College Media Solutions will design your scroll graphic with the technical specifications of television delivery in mind. As a general rule, no more than 10 words of text should be used at a minimum 24-point font size. Text is made in television friendly colors such as yellow or medium blues. We avoid text in saturated colors that bleed on TV screens, such as reds and deep blues.
Clients may choose to purchase multiple screens of scroll that will be designed to expand the information available to viewers. Multiple screens of scroll can seamlessly transition or use more complicated special effects such as rotating animations or fly-ins.

Scroll slates should be created in PhotoshopÕs RGB color mode at 612 pixels wide by 454 pixels tall with a resolution of 72 pixels per inch (dpi). Professional graphic designers should add a bleed for a total background size of 720 pixels wide by 534 pixels tall.

Designing Your Own Scroll Image:
For clients who wish to submit their own scroll screens, follow the general design and technical guidelines above. VTTV offers a Photoshop template to make your scroll screen the right size every time.

Saving Your Scroll Image:
   File > Save in Photoshop native file format (.PSD)
   Layer > Flatten Image. Edit > Select All
   File > Save As > PICT file (.PCT) > 32 bits, no compression
   File > Close > Don't Save
   Select .PSD, .PCT, images, and fonts; create a ZIP archive.
   Mac OS X Users, can press [ctrl][drag][Create Archive]
   Windows Users, should the folder and choose
   Send To > Compress (zipped) Files

Commercial Spot Advertising
Run your 30 or 60 second commercial spot in breaks between shows or segments of shows on VTTV. Commercials may not run when VTTV is carried on Blacksburg cable channel 18, the educational access channel. During those access channel times, VTTV first-run shows carry underwriting announcements. Submit commercials on miniDV tape.

Underwriting
Underwriting announcements let viewers know you support VTTVÕs programming, and by extension, its viewers. These non-commercial grant statements can run on both on-campus channel 33 and Blacksburg cable channel 18. Your underwriting announcement will include both audio and a screen that can include your logo and other information. Underwriting sponsors are acknowledged a minimum of three times during each 30 minute program; at the beginning and end of each show as well as during program breaks.

Video Scroll Advertising
Have a 30 or 60 second commercial? VTTV can embed your entire commercial, including the audio track, into the scroll running on campus channel 33 for a fee.

Electronic Submission
There are two methods to submit an ad:

2. Provide a CD-R or DVD-R.
